When we started ArewaNet Ventures in early 2023, many people asked us: “Why Kano? Why not Lagos or Abuja?” Our answer was simple: real change starts where the need is greatest.
Challenge #1: Finding Technical Talent
Contrary to popular belief, Northern Nigeria has no shortage of brilliant minds. What it lacks is structured training and exposure. We partnered with local universities and coding bootcamps to identify and train junior developers — many of whom are now core team members.
Challenge #2: Infrastructure & Power
Unstable power? Check. Intermittent internet? Check. Our solution: hybrid solar systems, Starlink backup, and asynchronous workflows. We built resilience into our operations from day one.
Our Biggest Win: Client Trust
Our first client was a local agribusiness needing a simple inventory system. We delivered on time, under budget, and with training included. Word spread. Today, we serve clients across 5 states.
